Banfield Pet Hospital System Analyst, Data & Analytics in Vancouver, Washington
SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE AND FUNCTION
The primary purpose and function of the System Analyst Data and Analytics is to serve as the liaison between business end users and data engineers and scientists to determine requirements for data warehouse and data science projects. The position will also manage the product backlog and provide technical support as needed.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.
Consult with end users to determine data, reports, analytics, metadata, training, service levels, data quality, and performance to be used in developing technical requirements.
Partner with architects and developers to translate requirements into technical specifications.
Assist architects and developers in identifying and assessing potential data sources to meet the requirements of projects.
Recommends appropriate scope to project team based on analysis of requirements.
Validate that data and analytics projects meet documented requirements and service level agreements.
Work with business teams to create requirements in the form of stories, mapping documents, and other project documents.
Refine workflow management process with data engineers.
Participate in production support tasks as needed.
Other job duties as assigned.
SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time.
Project timelines and work volume / deadlines may often require more than 40 hours per week to complete essential duties of this job.
Must have mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.
Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and to solve problems involving several variables.
Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds.
Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate necessary equipment.
The noise level in the work environment is normally moderate.
Environment where pets are present.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING
Bachelor’s degree preferred in Information Technology or Data Analytics, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Five years of experience in business analysis, data analysis and/or requirements gathering required.
Requires experience using data and analytics tools for business purposes.
Knowledge of key data warehousing concepts and SQL is required.
Prefer experience implementing projects involving advanced analytics.
Prefer health care background (veterinary or human healthcare, pharmaceutical, etc.).
