A Day in The Life of a Banfield Associate Veterinarian

As a Banfield Associate Veterinarian, it’s less about the job description, and more about the opportunity to contribute your unique skills and expertise to your team while developing your veterinary career. Banfield Associate DVMs support our hospitals and the communities we serve (http://www.banfield.com/about-us/community/wellness-communities) by:

  • Partner with the Veterinary Technician Mobile or Veterinary Assistant Mobile to manage the mobile unit as role models and champions of the brand to provide consistent high quality care and exceptional service to the most pets and clients and to maximize efficiency, productivity and profitability.

  • Establish trust and gain the confidence and compliance of clients through effectively delivering appropriate preventive care, performing complete diagnostic workups, developing thorough treatment plans, communicating home care instructions, and planning follow-up visits.

  • Assimilate information gathered through effective history taking, physical examination and diagnostic workup to arrive at an appropriate and effective clinical decision.

  • Effectively communicate diagnosis and treatment plan to veterinary medical team and client.

  • Practice veterinary medicine in a manner compliant with the State Veterinary Practice Act, Federal and/or State Controlled Substance laws and Banfield Code of Ethics, along with appropriate medical record documentation.

  • Partner with field and hospital leadership to design a career development plan which may include medical, surgical, communication and leadership skills.

  • Practice evidence-based medicine and preventive care when data or guidelines exist, using sound judgment when they do not.

  • May be responsible to act as Radiation Safety Officer for primary hospital as defined by the hospital’s Radiation Binder.

  • Practice evidence-based medicine and preventive care when data or guidelines exist, using sound judgment when they do not.

  • Perform all basic surgeries with appropriate anesthesia, monitoring and pain management.

  • Educate clientsto improve their level of knowledge about veterinary care and husbandry.

  • Charge for services rendered and products/prescriptions dispensed.

  • Othher job duties as assigned.

  • Context and scope;

  • The mobile clinic will visit central locations (retirement communities, office complexes, retail locations, etc.) to provide veterinary care.

  • The Doctor Veterinarian Mobile will partner with the Veterinary Technician/Veterinary Assistant Mobile to ensure proper medical supplies are on hand to perform duties needed during daily operation.

  • Knowledge and Responsibilities:

  • Experience: 2 years clinical experience

  • Required: Valid drivers license and comfort opperating a 26 foot vehicle

  • Prefered: Experience opperating in a mobile veterinary unit
